COVID-19 Announcement

In light of the COVID-19 public health crisis I want to address any concerns regarding its impact on our agency's operations. Be assured that Community Maternity Services is committed to maintaining safety while still providing critical services to our children, youth and families. We will continue to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and have developed a plan that will meet the needs of our clients and staff while minimizing the risk of exposure for them and their families. All of our non-essential staff are working remotely from their homes. This plan incorporates the guidance we have received from our government agencies and complies with their directives.

Effective immediately our business continuity strategy includes the following:

  • Our residential programs remain open with additional health and safety processes in place. Nursing staff will provide ongoing education to clients regarding COVID-19 including prevention and infection control.
  • Our community-based programs continue to operate in agreement with the most updated information and are using teleconferencing, FaceTime and Skype where available and appropriate.
  • Our facilities department has implemented enhanced cleaning protocols and is able to make additional changes when and if necessary.
  • Our Administrative team holds multiple daily meetings to share information, analyze new developments and refine procedures to comply with up-to-the-minute guidance. Agency staff receive ongoing updates as the situation develops.
  • We continue to modify procedures as new knowledge evolves with the health and safety of those we serve as our priority.

This is a fast moving crisis and we will keep you updated with new developments. We appreciate your continued support and thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

Spring is coming and we will all get through this together.

Farano Center for Children

The Farano Center provides trauma-informed congregate care services for children between the age of birth and 18. We specialize in serving young people who have a range of developmental, behavioral & mental health issues that cannot be managed in a home setting. Many of these children have also been a victim of parental abuse and neglect and have been severely traumatized. We also provide residential respite services and emergency placement for children who have been removed from their parent/caretaker's care. Our goal is to assist children in developing skills to cope with life stressors in a safe way. We further aim to assist families to safely manage their child’s challenging behaviors and/or address family concerns that have led to placement. All goals are geared toward developing a safe and stable permanency plan (which could include return to parent, foster home or an adoption plan). Services include:

  • Permanency planning
  • Behavior modification
  • Comprehensive assessment services with resultant recommendations
  • Crisis management
  • Individual and family counseling
