Celebration of Life

Please join us on May 5, 2016 at Brown’s Revolution Hall from 6:00-9:00PM for a celebration featuring a wonderful variety of appetizers, food stations and Brown’s seasonal craft beer tastings. The evening will include cash bar, music, raffles and an opportunity to recognize Joy Griffith and the Maternity and Early  Childhood Foundation for partnering with Community Maternity Services to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.  The Mission of the Maternity and Early Childhood Foundation is to ensure a safe and healthy birth of the child and the well being of the mother by supporting and promoting services to pregnant and parenting women who are most in need. Each year the foundation helps fund programs offered by Community Maternity Services that improve the lives of young women and children in 6 rural counties in the Diocese of Albany. The proceeds of this event will be used to support the critical programs and support services designed to empower our clients, strengthen families and improve the communities in which we live.

*Please RSVP by March 4, 2016 if you would like your name included on the invitation as a Sponsor and/or member of the Honoary Committee.*

Community Maternity Services (CMS), an agency of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, was founded in 1971 as a single residential program providing services to pregnant adolescents. The agency has grown through the years to meet the changing needs of the children, adolescents and families in our communities. Today CMS provides a continuum of services including care for pregnant and parenting adolescents and their families; group residence and family care for children; prevention services and supports for families at risk, as well as daycare services, adoption services, foster care services and respite services.

To enhance the quality services we have been providing for 40 years, CMS is implementing the The Sanctuary® Model into our practice. This model provides a whole system, trauma informed approach to treatment and healing.

The The Sanctuary® Model is first and foremost a guide for creating a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes physical, psychological, social and moral safety for our clients and for the people who care for them.

Thank You!

Our annual Celebration of Hope held at Treviso by Mallozzi’s was a huge success thanks to our generous sponsors, supporters and many friends. The event was a fitting tribute to Sister Mary Ann LoGiudice for her 35 years of dedicated service to Community Maternity Services. The evening featured a cocktail hour, food stations, a wine pull and fabulous entertainment by the New York Players. The program honoring Sister Mary Ann included speakers and a video highlighting her through the years at CMS. It was a true celebration.

The Association of NYS Youth Bureaus held its annual Youth Leadership forum on Monday, February 8, 2106 at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.  As part of a community service project, members donated an array of much needed items to our Joyce Center, a transitional living program serving homeless and runaway pregnant and parenting youth.  Donations were based on a client wish list and included things such as: winter wear, bed sheets, back packs, school supplies, pots and pans, educational books and much more!  Thank you to everyone who participated in this drive.  Your generosity helps us meet a great need and your kindness will certainly bring plenty of joy and smiles to the youth we serve! Thank you for caring about them.
